i read that as -no plans to get more bikes on trains but we are getting train companies to invest in pay for use bike storage at stations
and no mention of long distance recreational bike carriage which would be good for us mtbers

And you're surprised at the Goverment's response? They don't care what the proletariate would like, we're here to be told what we can have and what it's going to cost us.

I'm not sure the proletariat can afford either mountain bikes or train travel (although having said that I've been buying supercheap train tickets recently by splitting the journey etc).
