I just want to make sure I haven't missed something - you have to enter and pay for each of the 3 remaining events separately right?

There's no way to pay a single payment to encompass the whole series?

R1 cancelled due to Swinley being a (trail) building site.

Ok that makes sense. Gives me longer to get fit then. Possibly.

So...... Being 40 I could race in Vets or Sport categories. Any "unwritten rules" or advice as to which to choose?

If you're fast enough for Sport, you could also do Super Vets, which is the same eligibility criteria as Vets, but 4 laps instead of 3.

You're also eligible for Fun and Open, so in some ways it comes down to what time you want to race.

What's "fast enough"? Let me set out my stall - I'm kinda weekend warrior plus - that is, I'm using this to train and get fit and as a competitive measure against other riders. I'm confident I won't be and am not trying for 1st place. I'm not doing it for fun either - I want to get placed as high as I can personally within the day to day limits to train that I have.

Four laps shouldn't be an issue for me (I know the area a bit) so I thought Sport is where I wanted to be / would be a challenge...?

And with the greatest respect to others I don't want to misrepresent myself in a category that's too easy either.

Impossible for me to know how fast you are, just saying that Sport and Super Vets are roughly comparable in terms of speed, and Open and Vets are fairly similar to each other too.

Unless you know someone who races, and can look at their past lap times in comparison with other categories, you're best off picking what you think suits you best distance and convenience-wise. And if it turns out to be too easy or too hard, then move up or down a category next time.

Anyway, good luck and see you at the first round, Round 2 ๐Ÿ™‚
