Anybody using a Gore Wear gore-tex paclite?
How to do you find them in use?
Will they pack down small enough to fit in the back of a roadie jersey?

Thanks

I used to have one, it would pack down fairly small, but was a squeeze in a jersey pocket. I have a Gore Shakedry now - way better.

Goretex pac-plus folds down a bit smaller, my Montane goes into it's own chest pocket and is slightly nicer against bare arms (this time of year especially) but even that would struggle to get small enough to get in a jersey I think. Easily fit in a Camelbak though

Thanks

I want something small enough to fit into a jersey pocket but waterproof enough to keep me dry for several hours. I'd love a shakedry but don't like the idea of wearing black in dull conditions on the road.

Sportful hot pack no rain jacket might be worth a look. Packs down in its own pouch to about the size of a biggish apple.

Take a look at some of the Arcteryx stuff. I have a couple of their Squamish hoodies and while officially a wind shell rather than a rain jacket, they do keep me nice and dry in the rain. I always have one in my back pocket or hip pack when riding or hiking (or even going in to town when the weather is looking marginal)

I've had mine for years 10+. It's good.

It doesn't like being crashed in, mine is full of repairs.

It might fit in a big jersey pocket with some stuffing.

It lives on the commuter bike incase of downpours. Every time I have it on it feels like a great bit of kit.

My mate had the same jacket and that delaminated after 4 or so years.

I never had issues rolling a Paclite up in my back pocket, yeah it sticks out a bit so your aero tuck might be a tiny bit compromised but other than that no biggy.

Will continue using my 10 year old Paclite for winter CX duties when I need something to stop getting chilled in sudden downpours, but am too scared to take out the Shakedry for fear of dragging it through brambles, crashing and shouldering a muddy bike...
