Looking at tyres that will fit with 45mm SKS Bluemel mudguards. Bike will be used as a winter road bike and for gravel duties too (nothing too muddy).
I'm looking for some new 35mm tyres which will roll well on road, perform reasonably on the gravel (so not a slick), and be reasonably durable. Would prefer to keep the price down as spent a fair bit of late.
Looking at;
Conti Cyclocross Speed (£16.50 from Merlin) - I have the similarly treaded 42mm tyres at the moment and they seem pretty good.
Clement X'Plor MSO or USH (£20 from PlanetX) - I am more drawn to the USH due to the central ridge being faster rolling (in theory?)
Schwable G-Ones are around £25 but in performance flavour (which in MTB terms translates into garbage compound)
I know the Gravel King SK are a favourite, but at least £30 a tyre.
Any feedback on the above from the STW hive mind??
Clement X’Plor USH in 32mm are rather heavy for a 32mm tyre, at least the tubeless one's Planet X have are.
I got some from PX not so long ago, but sold them after they came up at 450g per tyre on my scales. They seemed super durable to be fair, much thicker than Panaracer Gravel Kings, so they'd likely be great for adventures or commuting.
If you're not going tubeless, those Conti's are great. (May be they even work tubeless unofficially, I don't know.)
Thanks Lego. Tubes on these wheels so have plumped for the Contis. 10% discount in them as well so £30 posted all in. bargain.

OP ... Talk to me about the Speeds in 42c flavour ... I currently have the AT Ride in the same size, one of which needs replacing. As it's coming up winter will probably replace like for like, but how are the Speeds over a range of surfaces ... Can they cope with a bit of damp trail, or are they really a gravel, tarmac and dry trails tyre?
The 42s are Continental Speed Ride. They came as OE on my Genesis CDA. They were fine on gravel and road, roll well and absorbed bumps nicely. Only used them once in real mud and they coped better than I thought they would. Having no siad that I’d want something with a bit more tread if I was riding more than gravel and dry dirt regularly.
