Hi
I have just bought a frame that is ss now I have a XT M780 triple crank I can split I have found out they are 104 bcd so my thoughts are a Hope narrow wide 34t for £28 from Tweeks my problem is what size chainring bolts do I need and I assume I need a bash guard so same again what size bolts for the bash guard ?
I await the STW massive's advice
Thanks for reading this

As you're already buying from Tweeks -

https://www.tweekscycles.com/Product.do?method=view&n=3519&g=340840&p=539230&d=124&c=4&l=2&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Base&utm_campaign=Chainset%20Spares&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlPSBoPeG1wIVFhMbCh3V-gyMEAQYByABEgLZ5fD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Bash will prob use the spider and will be OK with the standard length bolts as it'll bolt the chainring and bash together

You can fit the bash with the same bolts you're currently using on the triple.

If you ditch the bash, you need shorter bolts such as these.

https://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/raptor-chainring-104bcd-narrow-wide.htm

£20.09 with promotional code RINGLEADER

I assume I need a bash guard
No one uses bash guards you just need the shorter bolts

I am right in thinking you put the narrow wide on the triple where the middle ring used to be ?

So I need a bash guard otherwise it is going to look weird where the big ring used to be or have I got that wrong ? Wish I hadn't bought the damn frame now !!

No it won't look weird. And even if it does looks aren't essential to mountain biking. . . some people think. 😉

going 1x10 badly?

Triple chainset on a 3 speed crank gearbox, single sprocket out back, mounted all the way on the inside of the 11spd freehub body. 1/8th halflink chain on rings and sprockets all 3/32. Ultra short cage mech without enough capacity for the front rings which would be, what, a 58T rotor Q ring, an oval narrow wide 28T, and a 20T granny?

Anything else? All bits s/h and badly worn, obvs. And different colours. Ano. purple, orange and red chainrings. blue cranks. green rear sprocket. chain has white painted outer links, horribly gunged up with black filth.
