First time off to Glentress next week, staying in peebles.

Taking my OH, are the blues easy enough for a novice? how tougher are the red? my OH managed FOD blue and CYB blue, is Glentress in the same style? or tougher?

Also after places to eat, preferably not too far form peebles or in the town itself?

One downside have to head into edinburgh for a ghost tour, hhmm suppose could be worse!

Just be wary that certain sections may be closed at times for events during the Tweedlove Festival.

Don't know many other trail centre blues but GT blue is good fun. Should be OK for OH.

There isn't going to be many diversions from what i've heard and that's not until the 25th.

The blues should be fine and in all honesty the reds aren't much of a jump up.

If your OH was fine on FoD blue, she'll love the Blue at Glentress - it's stonkingly good fun. The red is a bit of a step up, especially if the weather's a bit iffy. My opinion might be slightly coloured by the fact I fell off Pennel's Vennel in the heavy rain though! 😆

Prince of India does good curry, but the service can be a bit slow.

For food - if you don't want Indian/Chinese try Osso on the High Street - excellent food.

Both times I've been to the Sunflower I've had a superb meal.

Have a wee look at Coltmans - west end of the High St opposite the Indian(which is also good)

As for the riding - she will love the blue and will be fine on the red with care. Mix and match!

Have a good time in Gods country!

Hi, there are lots of Ghost tours in Edinburgh, I went on the vaults one a few years ago.

Whinlatter on the way back (m6) which also has a good blue route.

The red at glentress mostly isn't the hardest- the first section (pennel's vennel) is designed as a qualifier, so try that, if you get on fine on that then you'll get round the rest without too much bother. If you don't, it leads onto the blue route anyway so no stress.

Pie Run can catch people out as it's relatively tight and has some roots and stuff, and one corner that's possibly out of grade (certainly doesn't fit the rest of the red). But that's a short section bypassable by either doing the longer red (up to Matrix etc) or just nipping down a fire road.
