Just got this through via GMBC mail list, Anyone know anything more or been to it?
Sounds good.
I guess just don't expect a frappaccino and a nice view 😉
May take a wander down tonight to have a looksie
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to your club from an organisation called Outdoor
Adventure Services, which is part of a larger company called Glasgow
Community Safety Services. As part of our service supplying all
elements of outdoor education to the City of Glasgow, we have just
recently opened a purpose built urban mountain bike track within the
city . The track is situated at a place called Milton near to
Springburn and has a variety of routes all purpose built by trail
builder extrodanair Paul Masson, who you may have heard designed
Laagan Wolftrax and many more of the Northern trail Centres! I am just
letting as many local organisations know about the facility as its
free to use and currently not many people know about it due to
advertising costs etc! I’ve included a trail info sheet and map for
you to look at and I would be more than happy to arrange a meeting so
as you can come and have a look and have a try. If that’s not possible
then feel free to visit in your own time, trails are open from 9-5 and
gates are locked before then. Please feel free to write back/comment
on what you thought as we are currently trying to approach local
schools with an urban cycle league programme and feedback is very much
appreciated!!
If you require any further information please feel free to contact me
at the office on 0141 – 944 – 5555 or alternatively email back to this
address.
Many Thanks
Andy Stanford.
Not heard anything about it but I have a pal lives in Stepps and is new to mountain biking so I'll let him know.
Only open 9-5 though, not ideal. Is that Monday to Friday I wonder?
well i can tell you one thing it certainly isnt advertised anywhere as I work for the council and Ive not heard of anything (glasgow community safety service is a branch of the council)
must go do some digging
havent heard anything about it
I've been to it.
Its got 3 sets of tabletops (increasing in size), with 3 jumps in each set, a small pump track, a couple of 'rocky' drop offs, a couple of small bermed corners and also set of stairs marked as a feature (graded black 😉 ).
It was a ok place for a wee blast about when it was first built and a great place to take the kids and give them a go on the features but now they've built metal gates at the entrance to the tabletops section and these gates seem to be permanently locked so you're only left with the pump track and drop offs and these get boring very quickly.
I wouldn't say it was worth travelling out to if its more than say 15mins away from you (head to Mudgdock instead).
F*ck going anywhere near Milton 😆
Not heard anything of it, it's only 5 miles from me. Milton - I'll be careful to have my bike surgically attached to my body. I wonder where it is.
Aye, Milton. Good for sprint training... 😐
PS - I think the gates mentioned in the email are the ones above the tabletops - they've been locked any weekend we've had a look. The gates to the actual park don't ever seem to be closed.

Be nice to have the trail info map etc, if anyone has it I'll host it for viewing here.
looks like a school running track?
old pic - it was waste ground before (and hasn't changed that much since th new feautures were added)
OK. It's on my drive home tonight, I'll drop by and see what I can see!
I sometimes drive past there on my way to/from work. Now I know what all the earthworks have been for. Will take a look on the way home tonight - might be something I can take the kids to on a saturday morning...
Is this the place that you can see when you are on the train from edinburgh? Looks like it ha some interesting features to say the least. Always thought it was in Bishopriggs though...

This is the place that you can see from the Glasgow-Edinburgh train. Not been to it but it looks 'compact' from the train. Good use of what was previously just waste ground for the neds to hang around in. Serious cowboy territory so be very careful.
I watched them build it.. looks OK for a play around on.. its not far from Bishopbriggs.. I don't live that far away from it.. a short drive..
but I can't see me ever going there on my own.. the area is a bit sketchy.. I certainly wouldn't feel safe there on my own with an expensive bike... you would be easily cornered in there. with the high fence all the way around it, from what I could see theres only one way in and out
I think you'll defo need to be mob handed or packing an automatic weapon of some disrciption... 😆 😆
My great-granda lived in Milton. Scary place. Probably the last part of Glasgow I would entertain the idea of pootling round on a blinged-up bike. Think of the worst location you've seen in a Ken Loach film and turn the scuzziness dial up to 11.
Apologies to all you Milton B&B and gastropub owners who were rubbing your hands and looking forward to cashing in on the lucrative MTB tourist trade...
Popped down there for a look yesterday, in the car, looks a bit flat and uninteresting, smaller and less to do than my old local BMX track. Couldn't see anything I'd consider to be drops?
