The top loop is rockier and more technical than the bottom. It's also more fun in my opinion. Just do the whole thing mate.

snow aside.....no sign so far

i would do the lower loop first to see how he gets on, possibly aviod homebaked on first go,

i am not a great fan of the top section i think some parts of lower loop are truely great fun.

out of cocklets car par take the first right up to the berms and see how they go on through there and then start the loop, or do that and then go by stevenson farm...which is cocklets and follow track down the short track and then to the gate right but carry straight on pass the building will bring you to the swoopy red which is good fun.

if it is going well go upto the top section and have a blast

Enjoy

I believe the guys are working on Hully Gully repairs tomorrow so I imagine that will be shut.

For a complete newbie I'd recommend a quick run around the blue to get warmed up, then go around the lower loop again adding in the red sections depending how he gets on.

Horses for courses I guess - I think the addition of the new swoopy section makes the bottom loop just as fun as the top, and I love Homebaked.

A compromise would be to climb the fire-road to the top of the Hope Line, do the quarry and boardwalk section, then turn left, down the fireroad to a junction, turn right and pick up the red again at the start of the Bottoms section, which is running very nicely at the moment.

Yeah it's all subjective. The new Swoopy is great. We usually park at the pub, do a few loops of the Hope line then do the top half and finish with the Swoopy or more Hope line.

I would try the top at some point lancslad then you will know which you prefer!

On the top loop watchout for lots of holes (full of water) as you come into(at the front) the berms after the "forgotten name" marsh bit where its really open some are very deep all the wooden boardings are deadly if wet do not touch your breaks!
We were up there last week doing both loops some puddles on both loops on the trails are bloody deep so keep your whits about you ๐Ÿ™‚

Good mate. Whinlatter was quality at Xmas. Did all of it for the first time. The South loop descent was superb. Well worth a trip and the cafe is decent for lunch too.
