Finding that I seem to be right on the M/L border for most bikes.

Anybody around the 6 foot mark riding a Trance X?

The competitive cyclist calculator makes it seem like the large will be a good fit, but they look a bit gate-ish!

(Yes I know I should try it before buying, just researching at this point) ๐Ÿ™‚

Unless you like a short ride position I think the large would be the way to go. You are right about them looking like gates though.

MUST buy a large - i have had 2 medium trances and a large, the large fitted me at 6FT1 but the mediums were far too short/low

I agree - large should be spot on for you. They have good standover and aren't long bikes, it won't be too big.

I'm 6' with a 33" inseam, demo'd a M 2010 X3 last year with a 100mm stem on and it felt ok but I had to have the seatpost past max and looking at pics I dwarfed it! Bought a L 2009 X4 recently, stuck a 75mm stem on it and fits way better. Main thing was to get rid of the cone spacer beneath the stem and drop it down as the 2008-2010 Larges have a huuuge head tube which contributes to the gate look!

Thanks all, much appreciated!

Bit of a long shot, but does anybody know what the minimum steerer length is on a large?

Looks to be about 3.5cm longer headtube than the my current frame I think which is going to be cutting it fine!

I'm 5ft 11 1/2in and have had a Trance and currently got a Trance X as mediums. The biggest change I made to the Trance X was to take off Risers and put on a 710mm wide flat bar. Lowering the high up front end really helps for me too - the main thing that put me off the large was the very high front end. Currently got a 90mm stem on the Front, owner of 32in inside leg.

Yep, I think large would be right for you. I'm 6'2" and ride a large with a 100mm stem and a layback post to get the length I need.

Just measured the headtube on my '09 - 165mm plain or 175mm including the FSA headset.
