[#11856312]

I’m looking for a decent bearing kit for a Giant Reign but not having much luck. Does anyone know where I can get one please? I can only find cheap kits on eBay whereas I’m looking for an Enduro bearing kit.

It’s a 2018 Reign advanced.

I suppose the alternative is to buy individual bearings from somewhere. If I go down that route, does anyone please know should I fit regular Enduro bearings or Enduro Max?

Cheers

Enduro Max or generic Max bearings from Kinetic ( https://www.kineticbikebearings.com/ )

Did check Kinetic as that's where i order my kits, but they don't appear to do the 2018 onwards Reign, only the 2015-2017, might be worth dropping them an email and asking if that one works on your frame, from looking it appears to be the same configuration, my 2020 reign looks pretty much the same as well in terms of linkage and sizing, but again, drop kinetic an email for the kit details.

Failing that, i sometimes order individual bearings from Wych Bearings to make up a kit, for frames they're basically just the MAX 2RS bearings, so can be bought separately for about a fiver a bearing (think there's 12 on the reign!).

Thanks everyone

I was put off by Kinetic on the basis that a)they don't have the Reign kit to match the 2018 onwards reign and b) the fact that they state their kits are generally made up of their own bearings, although they occasionally supplement with Enduro bearings.

argee - thanks for all the info. I had noticed Wych Bearings and was thinking just to order individual bearings from them. I know that the Reign is made up of some 6802 bearings for example, but what I'm confused on is LLU vs LLB, as well as standard Enduro vs Enduro Max. From what I can tell LLU is just the better seal, so will still fit ok, therefore I was going to go for the following bearings:

https://www.wychbearings.co.uk/6802-llu-max_enduro_bearing.html

Do you think this will be ok please?

LLU and LLB are just how the rubber seal is located to stop ingress/egress on the bearing, think LLU is light contact with the ball bearings, and LLB is medium, it's in a frame so you're not really worrying about slight drag, so either is good.

The MAX are the good ones for frames, as they have an additional ball bearing to reduce the space within the bearing, overall better for frame bearings again due to the forces being over a percentage of the bearings and the suspension action rotating the bearing only a short distance.

As you've highlighted, enduro max is a good one to go for, in all honesty a good standard 6802-2RS would work well, i tend to have a stock of them in my garage and replace as and when required.

I'd also not be put off by kinetic doing the mixture, having bought a couple of sets their bearings are as good as enduro, and half the kit tend to be enduro, think the only noticeable difference is their rubber seals are red and enduros are blue, everything else is identical.

Oh yeah, if i was a betting man i'd say 2018 onwards will have a mix of 6802, 6902 and 6900, not sure of what else, but usually 2 or 4 of each, i tend to buy 4 of each and then have spares of the ones that have only 2.

The next thing i would say is good luck, having changed a couple of them on my giant reign ebike i hope for your sake the normal reign doesn't have that weird spacer/bearing relationship, honestly not sure what giant were thinking as it's not an easy thing to align by yourself with the bike in a stand and both hands holding the spacers in to keep them from moving as it's a tight fit!

Just had a set off these guys, top notch . Phoned them up to confirm bearing size and they were very helpful.
