I'm gonna bleed my brakes but just realised that i don't have a piston reset tool, does anybody have a ghetto solution???
A large flathead... Or a medium ring spanner.
There's a special tool??? That people pay real money for???
The handle end of an old toothbrush is my high tech solution.

What he said!
I have a novel toothbrush styled Shimano compatible piston reset tool I could sell you for a tenner.
What is a "piston reset tool"?
A big screwdriver. Or a tyre lever.
A plastic tyre lever works - thicker ones like Parks are good. Be careful with Shimano ceramic pistons and screwdrivers...
ta for the replies... i think ๐ All sorted now.
Wooden clothes peg, disassembled, gives you two opposing wedges, works on Hopes so unless your Shimano are too oriental... ๐
Sharp metal tool plus ceramic piston equals possible expensive mistake. Stick an old set of pads in to protect the pistons and job's a goodun.
Large tyre lever is my tool of choice
Get into the habit of levering them apart with a screwdriver before removing the pads....
Used my car key this weekend when I had accidently pulled the front lever with the wheel removed....
