I am able to get my hand on a genesis Latitude 20 or a genesis Core 50 2011 for quite a hefty discount but was also thinking of maybe getting a altitude second hand and leaving some money for any upgrades?? Also have never ridden a steel frame and would like any guidance as if that would be better option?

I'd probably buy a good condition 2nd hand Altitude myself, keeping more money in my pocket for upgrades or whatever you want. Latitude is similar, but with 44mm headtube and not much else, but if you can get a new bargain on one then would also be superb.
I had an 853 steel Altitude, now have the Ti version. Great frame, pretty much nothing out there I'd swap it for.
Well i've been bidding on a few second hand altitudes and they are getting up to about £550 plus and i could get the latitude 10 for about £700?? just thinking all new bits means nothing should break for a bit etc??

Will say that the older bikes were better specced for the money though...
had a latitude 00 since last august really pleased with it, lovely ride would definately recommend it. first steel bike now would never go back to alu.
