My garmin edge 800 is doing odd things when connected to a PC. All been fine for a year.
Now I have to hold down the reset button to get it to go into disc mode when connected by USB.
Then when it shows on my computer it is now showing as two external discs rather than one.
One is labeled 'Garmin Edge 800' (G)drive
the other is now showing as a strring of letters and numbers and (I)drive.
Both contain nearly the same files....any help?

My garmin always does this, but I don't have any other problems with it.
All the folders in the (I) drive are empty....
And even though Garmin Connect can see both drives it won't upload the activities. Aarrrhhh!
IIRC two removable drives should indeed appear in My Computer (assuming Windows). One is the unit's internal storage, the other is the memory card. Have you changed anything on the card, or used it in another device? Does it work if you connect it directly to the PC with a card reader rather than through the GPS? Has water got into the card slot perhaps? Was the memory full? Do you delete old activities from the device once uploaded?
Save all your data and do a format, mine sometimes corrupt and this sorts it, the device reinstates all the folders on the drive when you restart it.
Memory's not full, device is working fine otherwise so not a water issue.
How do I format it and start again?
