Do you have ideas and/or opinions on the future of 7Stanes?

Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is gathering views and ideas to help make the most of an ambitious multi-million pound project to rejuvenate the 7stanes product. Take their survey which takes about 10 mins....

Filled this out earlier. Kind of feels like a narrow poll, would be better if it took a poll of say the last 3 vista of the 7 Stands. You'd get different answers if this was put to me.

Suspect it'll be money to spend on a building in Glentress with £0.01 million spent across the other sites...
To help make sure it isn't, please submit your feedback on the survey.

Filled it in the other day.

As a Fb friend eloquently put it though, as (D&G) locals we’ve about given up now.

With the sort of money being talked about they could recreate Bike Park Wales at any one of the 7 Stanes centres (£1.8m in 2013 according to British Cycling).

But given we’re almost six months post-Arwen and FLS still haven’t seen fit to clear the trails at Ae, Mabie, Dalbeattie (that I’ve visited, others are probably as badly hit), I just can’t see this cash being spent on anything other than something like a bigger car park at Glentress.

There’s been no Green route open at Ae since Arwen (November), which means no families visiting, hiring bikes from the shop and spending money in the cafe.

Mabie’s not had a shop or cafe for years, Dalbeattie never.

But they have just put the parking fees up and recently spent a morning installing a vehicle counter at Mabie’s car park. So that’s something.

FLS? Couldn’t organise a piss-up in a brewery…

I note in the 'what improvements' question there is no 'repair trails' option...

The trails are there to evolve maaaannnnnn...leave them to be (as they can't stop skidding or short cutting)...

I'm obviously cynical but I do see this being swallowed up on a ridiculous idea that doesn't benefit all 7Stanes sites.

Its really hard to make the poll give you the answer you've already chosen and agreed to if you make it wide ranging and open.

Love giving feedback, hope they do something with it, but as on a recent long weekend we visited 5 of the 7, the survey is absolutely brutally long 🤦‍♂️😆

Gave feedback and cheated do I could talk about all of the centres I visit. I was very clear that I believe investment should be on trails for the majority with a cafe or something (come back Rik, there was nothing to ever forgive) at Mabie. In terms if centres needing investment, I'd say Ae (trails), followed by Mabie (cafe), Dalbeattie (just don't like the trails there at all), Glentress (black route), Innerleithen (trails other than DH) then Kirroughtree (great trails but so far away). I don't really visit Glentrool and Newcastleton. Never have done.

That was painfully repetitive. I think I managed to say spend the money on the trails and don’t worry about ebikes or children’s play areas. I thought it might help by identifying as a minority ethnic group

As above - tedious and repetitive if you visited a lot of stanes on the last trip.

The 1-6 score funding question at the end was bizarre. No mention of government or forestry funding. And forcing a score for some of the answers was just weird - I'm happy to help with trails locally, but not hundreds of miles away.
