[Closed] Fulcrum Racing sport DB wheel bearing problem

I have a pair of these wheels. Only done less than 200 miles but there is a lot of play in the bearings. I've tried tightening the collar but that has no effect. Think I might have to replace the bearings.

There's the problem. What are the bearing numbers? Some say they are the fairly common 6903, and others say they are R5-004. Are these two different bearings or the same with different numbers?

Anyone replaced their bearings and if so any tips or hints to give me?

Apparently that's quite a good life span for a set of the bearings in those wheels, I know people who have had no end of trouble replacing the bearings as they were seized into the hub.

May be best dropping them at your LBS to get sorted

See  https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/mislabelled-bearings/

Mine were 18307 but labelled as 61903. Best bet is to measure the old ones and then check one of the bearing suppliers.

The bearings seals are shockingly bad in those wheels. A few months is good going....

I ditched them at the first opportunity for some Hunt wheels.

Searching the internet seems to agree that seals are bad. Can I ask which Hunt wheels you got?

The bearings are very bad, iirc when I changed the front one it only had a seal on one side and had seized very quickly. Having said that with new bearings the front has been an ok wheel, reasonably tough and still true so maybe not worth binning straight away. Not actually used the rear one at all so can’t opine on that

Fulcrums entry level stuff always has "economically sourced" bearings. Knock them out and press some quality bearings in and jobs a good'un. The freehubs aren't the greatest either.

My fulcrum racing sport freehub bearings and wheel bearings died so fast I managed to warranty them for a refund.  Shame as have had more expensive fulcrums that were good.

Check the bearing size and fit a set of half decent bearings.
