going from a 9sp Sora road triple (50-39-30) to 11sp 105 double (52-36)...do I need a new front mech?
heard people say you need a mech to match the chain width and that the 9sp triple will not Work as well with 105 as one designed for the group set...but in reality is there likely to be a major difference?
The cage on triple front mechs are a different shape to the double ones. However, whilst double front mechs aren't that great on a triple setup, the triple ones seem to work ok on doubles. 9 & 10spd ones tend to play ok with 9 or 10 speed setups.
Give it a go - if it works then happy days.
New mech. The 9 speed one will "work" in and emergency situation but it will never be right and the shifting will be compromised.
