My front brake is squealing when braking. Nothing unusual there until I came to clean it with a paper towel and brake cleaner.
It was like running your finger round the rim of a brandy glass, the disc vibrating as I run the towel round it. It sounds exactly like this when I'm braking.
Is this normal? Never noticed it on any other disks, disc is a SRAM 200mm centerline.
Bike is pretty new with only a couple of rides on it and the front brake has always squealed.
I've tried roughing up the disk with sandpaper but it still plays a tune when I wipe it with cleaner.
How do I stop this?
? bit of inner tube clamped between rotor & hub ?
Have you worn in the pads to the disc? You need to do multiple runs getting up to say 20mph on the road and then braking really hard to a stop with both brakes. I usually try to do this about 10 times when I have new pads / discs. Always seemed to work. Got centreline discs on both bikes - 200/180 on one and 200/160 on the other.
Is the calliper spacer correct for the disc size?
I've tried bedding them in but can't seem to stop the vibrations. Worth trying to clean everything up and give the pad a rub with sand paper and try again?
Yeah and and dishwasher them for good measure.
