I will be interested in your thoughts of the oval chain ring.
I tried one for the first time after 35 years of round and will be interested if you think the same.
I have one of those oval rings on my 2015 TR Scout. Fitted quite a few years ago just to see. There is a difference and I like it a lot. Techy climbs are where the benefits are in my opinion.
I built up my old Decade Virtue (original name) over lockdown for an old mate as a birthday present. I am happy to say, at 63 years, he is now a regular rider after not riding a bike since he was a kid. Still a great frame I reckon.
I still have an oval on the fatbike, not convinced there's much point to them on a normal bike tbh but when you're slogging up the last climb on 5 inches of blobby undamped rubber at 0.1mph, the difference is really obvious- it's not that you notice going forward faster, but you do notice that you're bouncing and blobbing less and that can only be good.Â
Absoluteblack were absolutely rubbish to deal with when I got mine, but that was a good while ago now, they might have learned some level of basic competence?
I had an Absolte Black oval on a HT for a few years. Decided I couldn't really feel any benefit and it just felt weird in the end and binned it off
Tempted by the piston press, do they work on 4 pot brakes? The website says compatible with all 2 pot, but I don't see a 4 pot option.
