Recently bought a new Hardtail xc frame to build up; wheels hand built from my lbs. On fitting the rear wheel, I noticed that it was not aligned in the centre of the frame, on inspection it was off to the the drive side by 8mm. My lbs said that some frames are just like that and that they can adjust the dish to allow for the variance. This smells rather odd to me, I have tried other friends wheels and they are all out as well when placed in the frame. As the wheel was originally built using a professional dishing tool, I would have thought any adjusting of the dish, would be more of a fudge, rather than a cure ?

Any suggestions on wherever this is standard practice ?
