Want to convert my DT swiss FR600 rims to tubeless. I was going to use Stans but unsure if i can just use the yellow tape (27mm?) or if i need the black strip with the valves attached. The tyres are Minion DHR2 and Shorty, both 2.4 dual ply.
Any issues going tubeless with these tyres?

DT do a specific tubeless kit, I think - but it's not radically different to Stan's tape.

I know the 5.1D(FR500 rims went up OK with just yellow tape and they were just one step down the range from the 600s

If they're like the 5.1s then the DT official kit is great- it's a full plastic seal, more like the bonty one than a stans one and custom fitted for the rim, works a charm.

I got the 5.1s to inflate with just tape but it wasn't reliable at all, you could push the tyre oft the rim with a thumb at riding pressures. I know some folks are happy with it but I wasn't.

Ill see if the dt swiss kit fits the fr600, seems pretty pricey though!. Currently got a pair of stans arch ex which work fine just with the yellow tape. Ive heard Gorilla tape or electrical tape works too.

Yeah, stans rims are designed for yellow tape though. Just had a google and the profile doesn't look terrible, it's obviously not designed for tubeless but it's got a nice big "shoulder" so maybe.

Tape's so cheap and you can use your Stans valve or cut one out of a tube so just give it a crack, I reckon.

I've never failed to set rims up tubeless with gorilla tape wheather they were tubeless, tubeless ready or standard rims
