Changed the spring in my wife's fox vanilla, med to soft. Since it is a bit rattly and sound like something is loose if you bang the front wheel down hard. Serviced it, everything inside looks ok, put it back together initially ok then same as before. How can I get rid of the annoying rattle?

has the spring got the plastic shrink wrap around the middle?

Does it change tone with more/less preload on the spring? Most likely is that it's the spring rubbing on the inside of the leg, you can use heat shrink wrap on the spring to quieten it down with little bit of grease on.

Spring is as supplied with small section of plastic covering, maybe two inches or thereabouts. Shall I add some more and what is recommended. Thanks in anticipation?
