If one were to reduce the travel on a set of Floats from 140mm to 120mm, would the A-C reduce by 20mm?

Yes. Just reduced mine from 160 down to 100 and a2c drops.

No, by the same distance as the spacer(s) you have fitted. Sounds like you have rebuilt it incorrectly. Take it apart again and check?

As far as I'm aware if you add a 20mm spacer then the axle to crown will be 20mm less. So if you add 60mm worth of spacers then the axle to crown will be 60mm less.

Yeah, the travel reduces by the amount of spacers you add - so I added 60mm so drops 60mm - if you do the same with 20mm then 20mm should be the result.
