I don't understand why anyone would want to cycle in Manhattan. It's mental. Tried it once, got a couple of blocks took me about 15 minutes, too confusing, too many absolute ****s in cars, just far more dangerous than I was prepared to risk. Had a spin round Central Park, gave up, went back to apartment.
Never ever seen such inconsiderate behaviour in my life. You think drivers/cyclists/pedestrians are bad over here? They're 100 times worse in New York. Everyone expects everyone else to get out of their way. I encountered some of the rudest people I've ever seen, whilst there. No wonder there's so many murders there....
Fantastic architecture though. I stayed here:
love riding around manhattan/brooklyn!

Like most things I'm sure when you become accustomed to the traffic system(s) it's less of an issue.
Probbly, yeah, but I know I woon't enjoy it on a daily basis, speshly not at night and/or in bad weather. Some drivers there are truly terrible.
