It's that time again where i feel i need to upgrade. I've never been truly happy with my (08) U Turn Revs. I've tried them at different pressures (harder 120 to stop dive.. to around 90 at the moment (i weigh 75kg). They always feel like they kinda 'ping' off rocks and don't track well over the rough stuff (yes, i have tried messing with the various pressues/rebound)
Last month i rode a mates demo scott spark in the peaks for the day (after riding mine the day before). Wow, what a difference! What amazed me the most was the handling of the fork (fox f120). It just tracked to the ground so much better, i was able to go a lot, lot faster in comparison to my superlight. I honestly don't think this was to do with the rest of the bike. the front was so much more stable of the rough stuff. The fork felt so much more plusher than my revs.
So the question is, do i sell them and buy some 09 f120 (i love my revs around the 115 - 120 mark) or get the revs pushed?
I notice fox forks are always on the high end bikes and there are always reports of them being far more plusher than Rockshox.
once youve got fox, theres no going back, i personally would get the vanilla 32 r because its coil(smoother travel) but 140mm is 20mm over for you so im sure the f120's would be great.
Its not just forks though, was he running less/more tyre pressure - were they bigger/small tyres etc.
I think its taken me 6 months of messing to find the right settings for my 36's, and I'm still not happy with my Reba's, but I'll get there.
I had my Air U-Turn Pikes Pushed last year, best upgrade I think I've ever invested in. Have you serviced your Revelations recently? Ever? If you compare tired with new, new is generally better, even though Fox forks, as standard definitely have more sophisticated, effective damping ime. I'd say that Pushed Rockshox forks are on a par with Fox though.
same pressures/tyres as mine (i'm particular about pressures). I run hbetter wheels (pro3/355) + tubeless set up
Had them serviced 2 months ago. granted it was a completely different bike with plusher rear suspension but it was the front of the bike and the fork handling that really grabbed me.
Perhaps i'm quite over the front of my bike so feel it through my arms more?
These threads discussing plushness, spiking, ground tracking and what not just make me feel sort of inadequate.
I've ridden bikes with loads of different forks and if I'm honest, I struggle to notice the difference between any 2 forks of a similar market level. Is there something wrong with me?
Have you tried non U-turn Revs? Supposedly a lot smoother than U-turns. [s]As said above, did the bike you were trying have the same tyres, or different? Have you serviced your existing forks at all?[/s] (Edit: oops - just noticed) Have you tried Maxle Revs?
You might find that trying any new forks will be an improvement. I'm not saying the Foxes aren't smashing forks, by the way. But have a play with other forks out there.
I've had one pair of '07 Rebas Pushed by TF, and they are definitely an improvement over the other pair of '07s I have. But I'm pretty sure that '09 Maxle Rebas will feel a lot better.

I think it just depends on where and how you ride. I'm a Peak local and if you hammer standard Pikes or Revs over rocky descents, they reach a point where the damping circuit can't flow enough oil to cope and the fork starts to bang around instead of working. That's the main difference I've found with the Push upgrade, the forks can simply handle continuous impacts without getting out of shape in the same way. If you never ride that hard on that sort of terrain, it probably doesn't make much odds to be honest.
fox over rockshox all day ๐
cheers guys. Might think about getting them pushed. Don't think i can quite stretch to the fox's at the moment!
regarding PUSH kits, don't call tftuned coz they'll tell you "fox are sh1te and we all use rockshox coz they're betterer".....
seriously unimpressed with their assistance when i called up for some advice.
needless to say, i'll be using STENDEC ๐
