I have an evening to kill in Fort William next week. Will have my road/gravel bike. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good 40-60km loop? Maybe less if it's off road. Would like to avoid the main roads if possible, but looking at the maps it seems most of the minor roads are dead ends. Was wondering if it'd be possible to get from Glen Nevis to Kinlochleven perhaps.
Cheers!
West Highland way goes between FW and kinlochleven, think its about 15 miles one way. I enjoyed it when i done it on a bike. Would be a big climb on the return out of kinlochleven on the way back
The West Highland Way can be a bit rocky and rutted, I'd want fatter tyres for that bit.
Plenty of gravel tracks around Leanachan forest. Could follow the Puggy Line, then down to Spean Bridge. Then the road down to Gairlochy, and back along the canal and Great Glen Way to Fort William.

Take a MTB, taking a gravel bike to FW is akin to going to Disneyland and fannying about on the swings. 🙂

Perhaps another time. This trip I have a few trains to catch, and one night where I need to keep the bike in the hotel room. I think a nice clean road-ish bike is going to be easier than my mtb! Also have a bit of luggage to ride with, and only an evening available for riding. I think I'm pushing my luck enough as it is in trying to get some riding in on a work trip!

😀 Oh yes. I was already planning to take the big bike and have a day on the uplift at the Nevis Range. Question is, do I take the gravel bike as well, or just play around locally on the trail bike (in family down-time, which will probably be a hasty hour or so, here and there!)
Mowgli, granted, was aimed at the dude who has until august to get priorities right!

Excellent, thanks!
Loch Shield?

Bit of a road slog to the beginning, but the 20 miles from Glenfinnan to Strontian are fabulous. Then you could take minor roads to Trioslaid and ferry back to FM.
Oh, may be a bit long for an evening actually...
