if the bars turn ful 90 degreees (a crash) the rop of the motion control knob catches the down tube on the frame. i have an fsa stem on the bike, is there a spacer that can be added simwhere to stop this happening. it needs about 2mm

Taller headset maybe?
you could put a spacer below the headset, I've seen it done before, it'll slacken the head angle slightly though. (not such a bad thing in some cases)
Oh and dont crash.
Taller headset. On one do a +10 mm one specifically for that but some normal ones are taller than others.
a couple of places do a +5mm headset. On-one springs to mind. It will have an extra tall bottom cup. This moves everything 5mm further away from the down tube. Common in 29ers apparently hence there being a few choices these days.
Otherwise I have an fsa pig DH which is huuuge at the bottom; that might do it if its only a couple of mm.
you could just take the knob off maybe? keep it in the camelback or something for when you need it. depends how much you use it i guess.
