I like the sound of this, but I think I want to ride the monster truck bike and that has gears.

Swede - I have heard about you.

*narrows eyes and looks suspiciously at the turnip'd one*

Gears are banned I'm afraid as I can't be added to wait in the car park whilst they are fixed, before the ride.
Bring a ss, it's not a race no one will get left behind*
Distance? Who cares if we're all having fun!

Oh and we'll pass a pub too!

* well not for too long.

I don't do SS - I have gears and a 'king big bike that needs more riding. 29er and 23" frames are niche enough for me.

I'm in but not sure how long my SS will last - something feels a bit loose and its making odd noises already.

Fascist bully boy!

Yup! Only against geared riders as they get in the way and faff too much!

Sofaking, not sure whether they'd be enough attention for Stu's wok munching frontend.

btw how will I know who I'm meant to be meeting? Do I follow the scent of real ale?

My car's a bluey grey 08 Fiesta (matches the bike ;)) if that will help anyone to indentify me?

There'll be a haze of niche in the air BUT the biggest give away is that we'll all be on SS and not talking to each other as we're too important and niche to socialise.

Depends on their mechanical ineptitude. I have yet to see a magic SS that never breaks.

I'm going to be riding in the FoD with another group that day but would love to come and join you afterwards if you're going for a pint or something. Plus I've got the next day off too so am contemplating pitching a tent somewhere and riding more FoD on the Monday...

And yes, I'll be on the [s]nichemobile[/s] Solitude. 🙂

Maybe (if i don't get away up North)

But it would mean i have to build up the SS which is in bits, grow a beard and find a remote speck of fitness all in 5 days 😐

Or just turn up with gears and

Or just turn up with gears

Why bother? You'll just have a bunch of luddites wearing sackcloth and ashes complaining about your geared bike ruining their ride. It would be like taking a combine harvester to an Amish farm and not expecting to be shunned for your ungodly ways.

I think you should come anyway TooTall, so i can have an eye to eye conversation with someone a proper height and also have a quick spin on your Turner so i can compare it to my Salsa. 🙂

Besides, the funny noises coming from the BB and rear hub on my SS Inbred make me think if there are going to be any mechanical problems on the day, it won't be from the geared bikes......

Nah - just going to take the 180 degree opposition to those who want to be more niche than a niched thing.

I don't have a problem with people bringing geared bikes, as long as they buy me a beer/cake when I catch them shifting.

Attention Whore - I think the name says it all
