Besides, the funny noises coming from the BB and rear hub on my SS Inbred make me think if there are going to be any mechanical problems on the day, it won't be from the geared bikes......

38 x 10 SM8'S 😉
3.8 inch slicks will ge fine and a 38:11 should suffice.
