Thats a big ol gap.... 😯
Nice building tatoo dave!
Seen it done by tatoo dave but not tried it yet. Needs a lot of speed/pedaling/balls!
The new smaller gap further back is great fun, into the little kicker and across the 'old' gap jump flows really nice though.
Dave's still at it? 😀
*slow claps*
Good one. Now it's been shouted about on a very popular public forum, tenner says it'll be gone soon
Sounds interesting...
Which one is flytipper? Might know it by a differnt name.
If anyone cares to enlighten me - jonATfisherproductionsDOTcoDOTuk rather than post it publicly.
Cheers!
Jon
tenner says 99% dont know where it is anyway.
tenner says 99.99% dont care where Surrey is anyway.

waaaay tooooo big for me! Madness, although one chap did do it - twice - just!!
I doubt I could find it again if I was insane enough to want to.. 🙂
Yep - it's a strange one though, the hip before it really doesn't work, because there isn't much of a lip on the gap you need quite a lot of speed for it, the hip just sucks it up.
I ended up inside lining it to carry more speed.
There was another track where someone has dug some doubles into the side of the long off camber section (sorry I don't know the names) - someone needs to have a look at them as they need a bit of work on the sizing/lips.
Yep the inside line will be the one I take. It's big but it really is just a speed thing.
Yeah the hip looks like it would suck your speed up - although it works well for the lower gap.
I was on my hardtail when I saw it so have an excuse to step away!!
Leggyblond - why is everyone so anal about posting on "very popular, public forums" ? I agree with FRN, most people wont know where this trail is (very easy to miss IMHO) and SWT is not THAT popular. Hardly going to lead to queues of mtb-ers or trail destroyers surely?
When I read this very popular, public forum, it seems that 99% of mtb-ers never ventyure past BKB, Yog Pots, Tel Rd and Leith Hill anyway????
And how many overweight Audi driving IT middle managers are going to have the skillz to even consider attempting what sounds like a fairly hefty gap. Nah, [s]they'll[/s] we'll all just talk about it on t'interweb instead.
I understand what you guys are saying about its not as if 100000 people will be uplifting flytippers over the weekend but it only takes one ranger/landowner to knock it down. It's not as if Tattoo Dave's creations are known for being allowed to stand. I don't think a bit of discretion is that hard to give it a chance of being enjoyed for longer, especially given that the OP can't even ride it...
Fair enough LB - perhaps the thread title could have avoided (location)? I only found this trail this summer and there seems only to be one YT clip anyway and that is not that obvious barring one slight give away. I still reckon that you/we are safe on this one.
Funnily enough I stumbled upon a new set on old-ish tracks yesterday not that far from the North Downs/Hogs Back (I hope that is vague enough!!) while walking dogs. I have walked past them hundreds of times and missed the jumps and ramps completely!!
LB - have you ridden it on a hardtail? i doubt it...
Dave has posted 2 clips on YT so he ain't that bothered...
Similar trails on Ranmore have been there years
I hardly gave the location away!
Yep it's big alright! Having looked at it on Monday and said "never in my lifetime" I haven't stopped thinking about it since!!! Am liking the earlier kicker although it took me 3 attempts to judge the speed right as the uphill robs you of so much momentum. The hip is also good, but makes lining up for the lower gap more difficult than before.
How big are we talking?
(sorry I'm just a nosey so and so reading the thread btw, up in Scotland so no chance of me going looking for it...).
Is this in The Hurtwood?
I love the Surrey Hills. Drove all the way there from N.London last weekend to ride on my own, a nice fast 40km loop taking in all the crowd pleasers. Almost bone dry, while Epping Forest is gloopy as hell. Might do the same Saturday if anyone fancies an early start from Westcott.
How lovely is Peaslake for a cuppa and a cheese-stick? And you get a proper mug for your tea! Heaven.
15ft gap (as measured by Simon from nirvana) - 12ft deep over a channel?
heiheie - I know what you mean! the sleepless nights pondering various jumps around the place!! 8)
Is this in The Hurtwood?
If it's where I think, then no.
Might do the same Saturday if anyone fancies an early start from Westcott.
I may be up there, but coming from Peaslake, could potentially meet up and do some of the Winterfold stuff that's less well known. I'll not be doing any 15ft gap jumps though 🙂
Youtube link?
This is what "flytipper gap" found
😀
winterfold I think
I think that it is "just" in the boundaries of The Hurtwood - again if its the trail I am thinking of, but it is very easy to miss.
njee - might be interested in a not too fast, but not stopping much ride on Saturday. Tour of the Cornfields on Sunday... for a change of scenery.
DezB, I had a look and found that too. Those boys have got mad skillz. 😆
can someone post a map reference to this please?
njee....will holler next time I'm down and have some time to explore the Hurtwood, love to see some more trails than the ones I know. Bit short on time so prob up very early and a zip around the loop then home. Kids stuff.
DezB - that was the original (now lower line).
The new jump is:
I'd say 15ft lip to lip too - it's not very big, it's just a jump you can't come up short at all on.
njee - might be interested in a not too fast, but not stopping much ride on Saturday.
Not totally sure I'll be up there, but I'm up for that.
The lower one is 13ft - but the new line just looks very intimidating and as hob nob says coming up short isn't an option!
😯
Did you read the rest of the thread?
mm, why? I can't see the location explained anywhere else in it.
Holy Moly 😯
Also regarding this trail, down the end as it drops into the bowl, on the extreme left hand side someone has cleared a drop between the trees, which I can only assume is a joke?
If you hit it at anything more than walking pace you will end up flat landing in the road!
The gap, fine - that drop? No thanks. 20ft hucks to flat should have stayed in the early 2000's.
😆
Exactly
You're not being very helpful here, are you. 🙄
I saw it, wet my pants and went home, my mum gave me a hug, a bacon sandwich and a special kiss
Wont be going there again 🙁
@Hob Nob.....it's no joke 😀
Davebust - I wimped the old one a few times, cant imagine what new one looks like in the flesh. Might need some flat pedals rather than spd's just in case!!
Out of interest is there much to the west of this trail (ie. RHS looking up it or LHS looking down)? Near the top, there is the flattish looking bridleway. I mean to have a look down this to see if there are any nice trails to the SW but haven't done so yet.
Vinnyeh - you will learn quickly. Frustrating I know!!
looks fun on a stick 🙂
@Hob Nob.....it's no joke
Really? I noticed it's stepped with a lower line which looks fine, but the high line looks nigh on impossible to hit cleanly. Has anyone hit it?
Sounds similar - however thats got a nice big lander.
This has a small section of trail between a couple of trees, maybe 6ft apart, with a road in the run out...
It looks about as much fun as a punch in the face!
Might do the same Saturday if anyone fancies an early start from Westcott.
I may be up there, but coming from Peaslake, could potentially meet up and do some of the Winterfold stuff that's less well known. I'll not be doing any 15ft gap jumps though
McBoo/NJee
I often go down from that North London village & would love to be shown some of the winterfold stuff to add to my repertoire. I'm off to Kielder this weekend , but bear it in mind for later in the month ( Sept)?
Similar crack here , not too fast and only stop for cake. soz for the hijack.
No worries! I was thinking of 'organising' a forum ride in September, so keep an eye out!
njee20 - nice one.
Really? I noticed it's stepped with a lower line which looks fine, but the high line looks nigh on impossible to hit cleanly. Has anyone hit it?
Don't know if there's another one, but if it's the drop to the left of the bowl, where it's very narrow and you ride close to an oak tree on your left, then it's fine. You're right, it's done at walking pace and you push off the drop. Just enough room to stop before the road.
dtp - yes thats the one i was thinking of, unless there is something to the left of that?
If that's the one thats been there a while - then I know what you mean, but it appears someone has cleared the moss back on the bank further up so the drop now goes off the highest possible point. Previously you could straightline the trail (which snakes around the side) with the smaller drop.
Happy to be proven wrong though - i'd like to see someone hit it for sure!
freeridenick
Not that I know of but HobNob mentions....
The gap, fine - that drop? No thanks. 20ft hucks to flat should have stayed in the early 2000's.
not seen a 20ft drop but with tattoo dave you never know. I'll have another look around next time I'm up.
is it the one in the video on page one? Because i know of another one that fits the bill but it isn't that
aP - do you wanna go for a ride tomorrow - not got your email address, mine's in my profile if you fancy it. It'll need to be relatively early - say 9 at Peaslake?
I might well be in Peaslake about 9am having a cuppa.

Sounds like a really crap dating website now.
Do the rest of us need to put up a sheet over the bus-stop for you both to get some privacy?
It'd be an idea.
njee, just checking with the memsahib, if we do we'll be on cx bikes, will confirm soon.
njee - will email you
Sounds like a really crap dating website now.
Or that start of another bromance thread
Haha! That was awesome. That's the second bromance I've been linked to today, hmmm 😕
what has happened to my thread 😯
It's turned into a grooming thread. Problem?
Well it's 4.30 and I'm just about to head off to Fly Tipper - wish me luck!
I could post in the Muddy Moles forum and maybe Green Orange Dave could join you ??
Hit the big gap yesterday on tippers clipped in on my SS xc bike. Just made it pedalling at it like Speedy Gonzales . COuld do with a higher gear really! Lovely gap. Not much run off on the landing tho. Didnt take the right hand hip into it . Bypassed and straightlined at it! I'll get the vid up soon.
hit it tonight in the wet. The ground was rolling pretty slow and it was a real effort, just got onto the other side though (bit of a heavy landing). The first jump was hard to get over too, I ended up pedalling right up to the lip just to hold my speed in the mud. In the dry I think it'd be quite nice. On the drop at the end I did the straight on line and the hip to the right line, didn't try the drops to the left with the shakey landings, they're one for next time (not very big, but the landings are dead skinny)
Saw it on Sunday. Looks fantastic. Have I got the balls to hit it? Not in a million years.
Great trail though.

sorry for slightly crappy picture, it was dark and wet..
looks ok
yeah its alright. Its not a difficult jump, except there's not really a lip, and the run into it is pretty flat and (in the wet) slow rolling. I had to crank right up to the lip then bunnyhop the hell out of it to get over, its more of a flyoff than a jump..
Had a look today - No way for me - cant imagine myself carrying the speed to clear it and it is pretty deep.
If the pic above was taken from the other side it would look a lot deeper.
Dave's been busy hasn't he - some nicely built dirt/gaps on another one near there. Sure they werent there last time i rode it. Too big for me again. They're on Dave's YouTube .
