bought into the hype at the time about them getting comfier the more you use them but after another cracking ride yesterday, me poor old crappers taken another bashing, so think im going to change them.

i bought 3, one for each bike, so ill be getting rid, either swapsies or for sale. but whats better? i know its all a bit subjective, but i seem to remember i used to like the old wtb rockets. are they still around? i also tried a charge spoon but didnt get on with that either. its always my er...'*rse-bones' that feel it worse, so want a bit of cushioning there.

cheers

I tried loads and stuck with the Gobi.

Also found the Bel Air pretty comfy and the Rocket V. Couldn't get on with Specialized stuff.

What have you got as I could do with another Gobi?

WTB Pure V - it's slightly wider than most. I don't get on at all with the SDG Bel Air if that provides more info.

its very personal, i love a gobi, few of my friends have tried it and some love it and some hate it.
its marmite, its not a grower.
but i made a similar mistake, the gobi xm, is a very different fit

as you liked WTB previously, i would start there for your next purchase.

Selle Flite XC works for me, and it has 'moulded in'.

Sadly, it looks like it is going to wear quite quick and they are not cheap.

just been outside and looked at them. they just say Gobi Wingflex, no letters after them, so mebbes not XM then. i just seemed to remember they had 2 letters after them when i bought them but if they dont say that on the saddle then i might be wrong.

cheers

Snap. I bought a Gobi Wingflex a couple of years ago following the good reviews etc. I persevered with it for 3 rides then had to get rid, it just really wan't for me. Went back to WTB and bought a Pure V or is it a Speed V, cheaper, more comfortable (for me).

wacko, had a look at the pure, but think i prefer the slimmer rocket thanks.

bimbler, sounds just like me. if enough people say its great it must be, but just didnt turn out to suit our delicate little bottys eh? 🙂

got a few spares and interested in the blue gobi, a quick check and i've found (listed in order of condition)

a brand new and unused Charge Spoon Ti in white with blue stitching
a lightly used SDG Ti-Fly (maybe a Ti-Fly C) in black with CrN/Ti rails
and an older used WTB Rocket V in black with grey piping

got any piccies of the gobi's?

I'd be up for a spare gobi. Getting on quite well with mine and wouldn't mind popping one on the HT

grrr all my pics were on fotopic, which looks like its dead now 🙁

ill have to take a few in a bit and post em on here, then sort out another pic hosting website.

chunkypaul, the white spoon sounds quite nice, but i tried the spoon before and sold it on straight away, so probably not worth me swapping id say. thanks anyway. is the old rocket a ti-railed version?

cheers

Tried a Gobi in 2009, as one came on the bike I bought at the time. Gave it a few rides, as I'd heard about all the hype of how good they supposedly were.

Most uncomfortable saddle I've ever used, too narrow for me by far and I'm hardly a lard arse!

The only solution I've found so far is the SDG Bel Air Ti, I've tried quite a number of others (got a couple of Specialized Demo saddles on try from my local dealer at the mo too) and keep coming back to the Bel Air...

am i right in thinking £40 is about right for a good nick gobi wingflex? think they were more than that when i was looking before, so its a guesstimate. ideally id find 3 people with nice new rocket v's to swap, but im not holding out much hope 🙂

i went from a gobi to a charge(which is great), gobi was ok but a little narrow. spesh are def worth a look. dealers have an arse size checker so you get the right width.

hey, you should known cromo is springy!

say £40 for the spoon - it'd look grand on the singular 😉

youre right dood, it would look good. but if its not comfy itd come straight back off 🙂

i reckon £40s too much of a gamble really. didnt know how much they went for cos i seemed to remember the basic spoons were silly cheap when they first came out, so i thought id ask.

thanks a lot

I couldn't get on with the gobi either, thought it was going to do me an injury in the flagpole raising dept! I get on with Rocket V, but still looking for something more comfy/less uncomfortable on big rides. Thought of trying a Bel-air too...........
