I've got one of the el cheapo Planet X rain jackets for light use, and it was great for a couple of rides - packs down small to chuck in the pack and for £15 not too fussed about brambles etc.
Picked up a bit of a stain on the front of it recently, looks like blood (but pretty sure it's not...) and when i've come to wipe it off it's taken the jacket with it! Leaving a couple of small patches where the fabric is see through and obviously not going to be waterproof. I've fired PX a quick email to see if they have any suggestions - anyone here offer any cheap ideas on patching it up?
I've patched a decent event jacket with a goretex patch - worked great until something went wrong in the washing machine and it de-glued itself. Prior to this though it was spot on - you can get them in outdoors shops.
tbh, though, if your're wearing it through with a wet cloth I wouldn't fancy your chances of sticking a patch on - I think the patch kit I used was best part of a tenner anyhow.
Try a roll of spinnaker repair tape from a chandlers.

Like APF, I've always used spinnaker repair tape - loads on ebay if you can't get to a chandlers.
