Is it still possible to get a firewood permit from the FC for gathering on their sites? I had a look on their website, but couldn't see any information.

Failing that, anyone know of a cheap source of firewood in Central Scotland - I'm happy to get cordwood and saw/chop it up myself.

Central Scotland, where are you? Scottish Wood used to sell it for £20 for a bundle that weighed a ton and a half. You'd need a trailer to collect it.

They are near Oakley in Fife

Based in Milton of Campsie - so Fife's not out of the question, although the same thing closer to home would be even better.

I got one a few years ago from the FC at Dunkeld.

Tay Forest District

Inverpark
Dunkeld
Perthshire
PH8 0JR

Tel : 01350 727284
Fax : 01350 727811
email: tay@forestry.gsi.gov.uk

It would be worth giving them a ring.
