Halfway through my first build up on my 456 Summer Season and the rear hub axle wouldn't go into the (too tight) dropout on one side, had to get busy with a file.

I'd assumed it was just lacquer/paint but had to take away about 1.5 mm altogether to make the bugger fit.

Is this unusual or just a run of the mill problem? Anybody else had something similar happen?

if you actually had to file metal something is up. Could have been that the dropout was damaged in transit.

I had the same problem with my early varnished Summer Season. I had to file a bit out of the left side drop out so my Hope XC hub axle would fit.
