@sofaking.

After doing over 8000 meters of descent so far this week I have no idea what day it is.😁

I do know that Fruit Market is an all of the awsumz trail though.

Another 1500+ meters to add to the 8000 already descended this week.
Might take it easy tomorrow and just get enough to click me over the 10000 meters in a week target I'd set myself.

After another thread on here I decided to explore some tracks on the Howgills.
The ground is lovely and dry on the tops

Rode to the calf in the early morning sun

And then rode down Bowderdale Beck

Was up in The Peak (Hayfield) for a few days. Got a riding window on Friday.

Worried about my dodgy feet and ankles holding up (as well as lack of fitness - only 6 rides in the last 6 months - only 3 of those off-road and none until this one on anything remotely hilly since FoD August last year) I didn't take the big bike and ride a Jacob's/ > Roych > Coldwell loop as I usually would.

On the advice of STWers I put together an old-school XC type ride around Lantern Pike, Chinley Churn/New Allotments and the Shooting Cabin/Twenty Trees.

Ankle held up on the lumpier bits, and riding it on the old Epic was a reminder how good current bikes are. Stuff I'd straight line on the RocketMAX actually needed thought and actual bike riding on a steep 2012 120mm machine! All good old-school fun though. Will neeed to go back and try some of the other variations on the big bike at some point.

I absolutely love Molini. People/Village/Culture/History and Riding. Also guiding and accom are spot on. I was having about 5-10 'well this time I'm definitely going to die' moments on every ride tho!

EDIT: I see vids from Flickr don't work. There's a whole load in the album if you're bored 🙂 https://www.flickr.com/photos/alexleigh/albums/72177720308795099

I've been lucky enough to ride in loads of places round the world, and for the 'experience' (not just the riding which is really good and varied) it's my favourite location. Will definitely be back a third time.

Beautiful weather and riding conditions in East Devon 😎

Though some trails I went down today have been totally destroyed by that torrential rain a few weeks ago.

One track had a rut (if you can call it that now) that's gone from a foot deep to over 6ft!

I'll stick some more Yair in the thread. Truly a rubbish place to ride.

Afternoon at Northampton Bike Park today. A big reminder that I'm nowhere near as good on the bike as I used to be! Definitely want a FS frame again for the confidence boost it gives, anyone want to buy a guitar so I can free up some funds?! 🙂

Think I'm going back to flats too, had a few stupid "failed to clip/unclip" falls that could have been avoided!

Roads are quieter again after being English mid-term last week.

Been meaning to loop Manchester on the various canal's and TPT, so as it was bone dry, jumped on the CX bike at lunch for 35 miles. Slight detour around Edge Lane in Denton, as the police have closed off the canal and road due to a fatal stabbing a couple of days ago (forensics)

Bit of MTB for a change. Did some off piste at Glentress. Thunderstruck; huntsman; careless whisper; Jail Break/skull duggery and EWS fort to finish it off.

The photo of @vmgscot or their riding buddy going over that broken wall on the Marin (hope I've got that right) really put a smile on my face.

Done it half a dozen times, still can't get my riding buddy to roll it.  To the point he has a full on strop when 'encouraging' him.

Appreciate it's rollable, but kudos for riding as some won't! 🙂

Big weekend for me. The hardest, fastest riding i've ever done chasing some mad buggers around a massive singletrack park and two nights basic camping.

These two win their category in pretty much every event they enter - Enduro and Gravel - and scored some KOMs this time too, so even though i'm a bit younger I worked my backside off.

Some big climbs

Some wildlife safety intervention

https://flic.kr/p/2oEUev2

Heaps more jumps than i'm used to, including my first road gap (which one of my mates concussed himself on last time he was there)

Lovely little 50km pootle through the Suffolk Countryside with Mrs Ready, with an Ice Cream at Framlingham Castle half way round.

Was having too much fun on Saturday just up around my local Errington Woods to remember to take any photos, most of the trails are all on the North side of the woods so it's only just gotten dry and dusty really, and when wet it's like grease. Rode a few new ones and tried one that my nephew told me about which takes your from the top of the woods to the bottom, he omitted to tell me how steep the last bit was and I chickened out and pushed back up the trail 😀

Only photo I took is when I stopped in the craft beer shop in the village at the end of the ride

Wasn't able to get out until a 1.5 hour gravel loop Sunday evening due to kid/partner illness. Fortunately it looked like this.

Nice social gravel ride to the train station for a burger and chips. Hadn’t quite realised that 100 miles of mostly gravel is much tougher than 100 Road miles, doh.

Not quite as satisfying as two days lapping Dirt Farm and BPW, book-ended by days at Cwmcarn and Barry Sidings, on my trusty Levo. That was last (long) weekend.

BPW

This weekend it was a quick blast on the singlespeed around some local singletrack. Didn’t even put my contacts in!

Moxie

and me

It’s quite a recalibration being back on tight natural trails with so much more to crash into but lower speeds and g forces and less air…

@_tom_ are you a northamptonite? My mum lives about 10 minutes’ drive from the new bike park, am thinking I’ll take myself and the kids next time I visit.

@chiefgrooveguru I'm in Daventry so about a 25 min drive to the bike park. It's great to have somewhere close to home to ride, though most of the trails are a bit above my current skill level - would have been in my element about 5 years ago!

@ajantom - Where’s good to ride in East Devon nowadays? I used to live in Exeter until 15 years ago when it would be Woodbury Common, Haldon offpiste or random slogs across Dartmoor.

I’m moving back this summer and just wondering what’s good around there now. I believe most of what I rode on Woodbury have been removed by Clinton Estates in recent years.

@zerocool - still Woodbury and Haldon off-piste really 😆

Woodbury is as good as it ever was, some bits gone, but a lot of new stuff too.
Most of the stuff Clinton took down has been rebuilt - in fact there's more stuff over Yettington way than ever.

On bigger days out I tend to mix it up with a bit of East Hill (Ottery), Mutters Moor and Harpford woods.

Haldon OP is generally good, though the Cafe side stuff of totally gone.
Some stuff has been over ridden/blown out, but there's a fair amount of new stuff if you know where to look 🤫

Lustleigh Cleave and the Teign Valley is still ace, though I haven't been up there for a while.

And of course the Quantocks are only 30 miles away if you fancy a change.

East Hill, now that brings back memories. Good to know there’s still stuff by Yettington as it’s easy to het to. Are the jumps still at Pines Ridge or have they gone as well.

Thanks for updating me.
