Any reason this kind of thing is not suitable for bikes with carbon steerers?

Can't speak for carbon specific abrasion but Mrs Pondo's hybrid has a female dropped top tube and the cross bar has been no bother, bit trickier to load but nothing apart from that.

It an expert utah why the hell not....
So long as the clamping force is not greater than the stem can't see a problem, the forces should be no greater than hard braking really
