Just got one in the post this morning, and first impression was "Urgh - nasty chemical smell"
Anyone else found the same? Does it go away after a wash?
Give it a wash and find out?
Yeah mine are fine, rinse out with hot soapy water or bung them in the dishwasher.
What's the opinion on these? Stay on ok?
Urgh - nasty chemical smell
Like every other plastic bottle ever?
I ordered a couple of them the other day so should be arriving today, I'll have a sniff when they turn up and see if it's any worse than the normal new bottle smell.
The first one I got came off and cracked.. granted it was a crash though was relatively low speed. Asked Fabric and they told me to a buy a new one, fortunately the retailer - Triton Cycles FTW, replaced it for me.
No problems as of yet, though is getting increasingly hard to click into position and has come off once or twice.
Mine had a bit of a smell- I had a feeling it was from the bits they ship inside the bottle, rather than the bottle itself. Washed out, anyway. It's still not the best bottle, the squeezy drinky bit isn't as good as say a camelbak, but I do like the basic cageless concept, as an occasional bottle user
Will the top off a Camelbak bottle fit one? I'm tempted as otherwise I'll end up being a massive tart and buying some Ti cages.
I bought one, then left it at Glentress, and was sufficiently underwhelmed that I didn't bother getting another one.

I tried a bunch of other bottle tops and none fitted.
Thing is, it's not really an alternative to a normal bottle, or doing the same job- if you're using a bottle regularily, get a cage. It's a way for infrequent bottle users to fit one less well, but to avoid having a cage. Which is me. But if you expect it to replace a cage-and-bottle and work identically it won't.
mine have just arrived, they do pong a bit more than a normal bottle, the plastic feels a bit 'stiffer' if that makes sense?
I'm sure it'll be fine after a few washes
Store it full of water to absorb the taste.
Fill it full of water deacanted from tins of tuna. That should get rid of the chemical taste ๐
What Northwind said.
If you're a XC type that will use it frequently then look elsewhere. If you're using it on the top of climbs/ stops now and then it's perfect. I use mine on 1-2 hour brief local rides where I don't take a pack etc.
Mine was not at all smelly on arrival, and I agree with those who say it is fine for those who just use it at stops. I did try and use it whilst cycling on a fireroad, taking it off is no problem, I almost fell off trying to get it back on-lining the bottle to the bosses on my rocket was impossible on the move
I've lost two + they are horrible to drink from imo

Ditto - for occasional short spins for me, so i can leave a bag behind and just take a car key and bottle. Not fussed with drinking and replacing while on the move, am more of a "get to the top, stop and have a swig" type.
Didn't realise ti came with two sets of studs, which is a nice plus.
Try cleaning it with Milton, that should get rid of plastic smells.
I think its a genius idea for the occasional user as stated above. There is no better way to ruin the look of a bike than by sticking a bottle cage on it. Even expensive carbon ones look retarded on anything other than a road bike.
Step in fabric with their almost invisible little studs. I usually nick one of my daughters fruit shoots and stick it in my pocket or use my camelbak if I absolutely have too. I now use the fabric bottle.
I have tested it on some seriously rough terrain and big jumps and even when full I cant get it to fall off. For what I want its great. All I need to do now is to remember to drink from it. I don't drink anywhere near enough and normally end up back at home with as much water as I started.
Judging by the amount of normal bike bottles I see strewn on the side of trails at FO, BPW and Cwmcarn I can only assume that regular bottles and cages aren't that great at holding water bottles in place over rough ground either
Least you've got yours. Mines been on order with Evans since before Christmas and is now not coming till May after the third email.
When I get round to it I'll be cancelling.

Really? Mine was Evans too, was waiting a while for it admittedly, but I changed the order when the dark grey/black ones appeared, so it took a little longer (and cost a little less, the y refunded me 50p)

I gave it my best shot and after nearly dying about 4 times, managed to get the front boss mounted into the back hole so that it spun around in the frame and tangled in my leg ๐
The delivery dates have been all over the place on these btw, especially in some colours, I get the impression they're selling out faster than they can restock.
Update on my bottle...
Was launched into the undergrowth, never to be seen again, after a 2-3ft drop off this weekend. Can only assume the weight of it (was full up) made it more likely to pop free of the bolts holding it. Disappointing.
