I've signed up for the Etape in the summer, and am planning to tie the ride in alongside some proper ๐Ÿ˜‰ biking. I don't want to take my full suss and the road bike, especially as my roadbike isn't the lightest/newest.

Anyone know of anywhere in Avignon/Ventoux area, or in Briancon area (will be staying there a bit) whihc hires good quality road bikes? I'm ideally looking for a sub 8kg carbon bike with a compact chainset.

Just to add- i'll be riding in t'alps, so anywhere which would hire road bikes from well known MTB spots would be good- in fact, the only thing certain about this trip is the Etape, so all info welcome?

I saw something in a french mag the other day. A website hiring roadbikes over France. Sounds just your thing. <stop press> after a google.fr search, it seems they are based in Bedouin! Perfect. et voila: http://www.velofrancelocations.fr/

Hmm... riding a hire bike on a 150Km sportive. You're a braver man than me.

I was there recently. There was a bike rental company in Bedoin, at the foot of the Ventoux climb. Cant remember the company name though.

thanks all,

The comment about a hire bike for a sportive is a fair one. Still, i'm quite standard sized, so if i took my saddle and pedals it should fit OK. -As long as they have a decent workshop ethic!

Still, i'd be taking it out a coupleof days beforehand to get fettled...!

OK, fair enough. When I rode the Marmotte last year I spent a week just riding up and down things the week before to get used to the size of everything.

Johnny,

Good for you. I tried to get an entry but failed. Best of luck in July, it's gonna be a "bee ach" of a ride. I will keep my fingers crossed that you have a cool day as apposed to the usual 40 something degree temperatures.

I'll see you there - sadly I won't be including any proper biking on the trip. I'll be travelling with my Sith companions ๐Ÿ˜•
