From the inside of the disc bolt holes on a hope hub?

Putting a different set of wheels onto a bike and went to put a disc on the rear hub and there's some old blue threadlock in there making it very hard to do the bolts up. Can't get any type of brush I have to hand in there. Any ideas on getting this stuff out? I don't have a tap or anything else to run through it either. Anyone had any luck disolving it with stuff you'd find around a normal house? 😕

Boiling water might work. Most threadlock releases about this temp. You might be able to swab it out.

I'll try that. Internet says heat or some chemical and I don't really want to put a blowtorch on the hub and don't think I'll be able to get the chemical stuff today.

Run a tap through it, should get most of it out.

Hot or Cold?

Ah ha!

Found some q-tip things, boiling water and ...

job done!

I'll use some fresh stuff on the threads, these wheels had been in the loft a couple of years.

🙂
