Rubbish pic but spot the school boy error made by Junkyard (click to make big). Noticed after driving to the Lakes and paying for the car park.

After parking up at Patterdale, he smugly emerged from the car with some lube. Only then did he realise he hadn't got a chain!

We headed back over Kirkstone to Biketreks, bought a chain by which time it was too late to try and get back to do high street, so we had a cracking ride around Grizedale, so the day wasn't wasted.

I have to say that it ranks right up there with the best "what essential bit of kit did you leave at home" stories.

Biketreks said it was a first also.

Kids on balance bikes seem to be fine without chains and look how young they are.

And surely it wasn't that cold today?

😳

for the fashinista amongst you they are actually Ron Hills, shorts are waterproof, rest is non riding gear.
My wheels do match they are both 26"

Yes what a dumb b@stard but given weather conditions probably a good thing we failed on high street.

Sorry Dave ...you know the rules can never mention it to me again now you have shamed me 😉

I've seen a friend forget their non drive side crank arm, and another was most upset to open his van to discover he had left his bike at home.

I'm from Bolton. Balls deep bog is bread and butter to us. 😆

Grizedale was a cracking ride though. They have done a nice job with the new cafe... looks proper posh.

Was Dying to have a ride over the timber kiddies climbing frame thing in the garden next to the cafe, but would probably have been kicked out.

Yeah I think you had a lucky escape from doing High Street tbh - I did it after a week or so of sunny dry weather and it was still fairly boggy in places.

Jonny setting new standards for pre-ride faffage, whoops!

BTW are the ones berating crud guards and short/tights combo the same ones who only talk about riding during winter? I'm afraid I've got to agree with the unfashionable* statment tho.

*I have just purchased some waterproof shorts to go over longs on those upcoming really nasty days, fashionable vs warm is a no brainer 🙂
