That's 80 miles a day for a year!
These kind of records blow my mind, not for the actual riding but the logistics of it all. What's even more amazing was that the records were set in the 30's on shit roads with virtually zero lighting worth a damn, no energy products, no fancy clothing, maybe a 3-speed hub gear at best.
A few years ago there were several people trying to break those records; one American woman literally rode round and round and round her local park to do it which just seems a bit out of the spirit of it to me.
29,000 miles in a year sounds just about feasible....
But I definitely don't fancy trying to break the current record 86,537 miles as set by Amanda Coker!
That's over 38 round trips from my house to Durham Cathedral
