Not telling; I live in a destination, not a stop off.

Parbold Hill. Only 'cos Henry Africa's club used to be up there. And it had topless barmaids.
Seriously however Rivington Pike is lovely.

Haig Pit ;

,in Whitehaven,Cumbria.
My mother's family all came from Kells.
I remember staying at my Great Grandmother's over the road when it was working.Such a horrible environment to work in, they all emigrated! Or died of respiratory diseases. ๐Ÿ™
The whole coastline used to be industrialised. I served my Apprenticeship on a massive site down the road that doesn't even exist any more. ๐Ÿ™

Not the North, but the Derwent Valley World Heritage site.

Especially Lea Wood pumping station when it is under steam, usually bank holidays

Yes, Whalley in Lancashire is a gem, but that's what thousands of other wealthy commuters think as well so for a small village it has an immense traffic problem. It might as well be in Cheshire for that. It's going to get worse as well as more and more "brown envelope" developments go ahead around the fringes.

Good place to start and finish bike rides though as it has four roads, all taking you towards different interesting areas for cycling.
