An absolute legend, probably (due to timing of availability, and his mastery of YouTube) more significant to most than even the great Sheldon Brown.

I hope his retirement is a long and happy one.

Calvin is as synonymous with Park Tool as the blue colour of their tools.

He's earned it, but it will be a shame to see him go.

His legacy shall be the immaculate indexing of every rear mech ever.

The guy's an absolute star, wish I could put a price on the amount of money he's saved me by explaining things that everyone else seems to hugely over complicate, and empowering me with the skills and confidence to give it a go, and often even succeed .

I've got a link saved to the rear mech video that I send to anyone who's having trouble with indexing, and their response is almost always 'wow, that makes total sense now!' And then they ride off into the sunset in clean shifting silence.

Post it here, now, so I too can bookmark it. I'm useless at indexing gears 🙄

I’ve met him a few times, really nice bloke. However, sat next to him at IceBike at dinnertime (lunch to you southerners) and he had trouble working out how to open one of those fancy tins of water! No doubt he went away and wrote a guide..

He’s been great to help with various bits. I’ve always sent links to people who needed advice as it was easy to follow.

I do wish Park Tools had put a simple “Thank you” on the end of the video out of respect for him

Really? People need a video to Index a rear derailleur or are we talking electronic mechs with associated apps and diagnostics?
