This is what happens whan you go from something trustworthy and old to something modern! I havent a bleeding clue

So Press fit BB's firstly, can i use a BB type mech or chain device (superstar XC thing) with one? And how do i get them in and out? Hammer?

Tapered Headsets! I have a standard 1 1/8 steerer which im keeping so can i use a Hope Tapered 1.5" Reducer Crown thing then bung an integrated 1 1/8" headset into that? Apparently you are meant to run an integrated or semi integrated headset. Headset lower cup reducers that are integrated seem either well expensive or hard to come by. Can i run an integrated headset with a hope reducer or would it have to be semi integrated as these have a lip, as i fear the integrated ones would have nothing to push against with a reducer.

Or as a simpler fix, could i use the bottom reducer cup from my prophet??? Cant remember if cannondale headtubes are exactly 1.5"

Does anyone have an integrated 1 1/8" headset or reducer headset that would work for sale?

142mm rear axles! Best bet to get a Pro 2 and convert it? Thats an easy job yeah, just caps off i take it and new ones on?

Oh and the seatpost is frikking huge, 34.9mm. For the short term i want to use the gravity dropper so can anyone see any downsides to using 2 shims (34.9-31.6 and 31.6-27.2) to allow this, or is this risky?

Stupid god forsaken standards, never had any of these problems previously!

Which headset is it, integrated 1.5 or external 1.5.

Google SHIS and get your facts right.

Lots of shims sounds like a recipe for a creak-fest.

IA its integrated as i said.

Superstar seem to have 3 options on headsets, a T3, T4 and T5

The T3 comes with a crown race reducer T3 headset

Any thoughts on whether this is the right one?

They dont know!

Decided on a hope HS136 crown reducer thing which converts the forks to 1.5" and a std integrated headset.

Will see how 2 shims go, if not just use a std seatpost

And you cant use e type mechs or chain devices with press fit BB's!

What a ball ache

Pro2 rear hub needs a new axle+end caps to go to 142mm

Pro2 EVO just needs new end caps.

I've used the darn pf30 and it's S#%t. I now use an FSA one but you can only use an FSA crank set with it but it's way better than SRAM . Saying that you can only use SRAM with, you guessed it , SRAM. i personally think its the worst BB standard. Just wish someone would make something to get it back to a standard BB. They have some adapters out there but are made of plastic.

Pro 2 Evo 142 end caps won't work with a older pro 2 hub thats already converted to a 135 12mm axle
despite what advice hope might initially give you
...So if you have an Evo hub, I have some 142 end caps I can sell you 😉
What frame is it? My Commencal will only fit a Dura-ace press fit BB
I pressed my BB in with a vice and block of wood, tap it out carefully from opp side with a large bladed screwdriver and hammer and it's a no to BB mount mechs or chainguides

No you can't use a bb mounted guide with a press fit b/b, you'll need a seat tube mounted version.

This is the Superstar £20 chain guide I use as I have press fit BB

Initially I had my doubts about the durability but the bikes had some hammer and its fine
