My new installed Elixir break pads are too thick for my rotors to spin freely. Whats the solution? Any help appreciated!

Brake a lot on a long downhill or wait for a more sensible response 🙂

Some pads have painted backs, take out the pads and look at the back of them. If they have paint on them sand it off and then put pads back in.
You did push the pistons back in before fitting the pads didn't you?
Oh and it's brakes not breaks!

You need to push the pistons back into the calliper before you fit the new pads. You can use the wedge that comes with the bleed kit.

Push the pistons back out, elixir's are self adjusting. If you have the contact adjust, also wind that far out.

I've seen this with Elixirs and Juicy's. Can I ask which make of pad they are?
The ones I have had issue with were Clarks.

Your pistons are stuck out a little. Take the wheel out and stick a tyre leaver in between the pads to push the pistons back into the calliper.

You've bought Superstar pads haven't you.

They DON'T fit Elixir's out of the packet, you'll be needing to remove the overly thick powdercoat/paint from the back of the pad before your wheels will turn.

For this reason I'm not using them again.

This but I didn't get the painted ones. I did however set up the brakes by bleeding after making sure the pistons were all the way back....then unscrewing the calipers a tad and making sure I re-positioned them as to not scrape the pads. I did this by ear! Worked very well, no squeel etc
