I'm trying to avoid the inevitable BH hotspots. Does anyone have local knowledge/experience of the trails in this area?

Only The Calf might be classed as a hot spot - otherwise just the odd walker about.

Cheers, DeeJay. That is the type of busy day I'm looking for! ๐Ÿ˜€

It is only a short distance from where I live, but for some reason I have never bothered! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

The trail over Great Asby Scar is good - you even get to ride through a nature reserve - then drop left into Knotts Lane for a peddley descent. The climb out of Roundthwaite is testing with a nice drop into the other Borrowdale - up the valley and then a stiff climb over the Breasthigh Road takes you to a very bouldery descent into Bretherdale - some lovely trails - but don't tell anyone . . . . .

Sounds great, DeeJay. My weekend guest is into her megalithic things, so doubtless there will be many diversions!
