I have a 2000 LT and love it. I have some old boxxers on mine 151mm, they are a bit heavy, but if you had a single crown fork on there. The frame is light, it is just what you put on it.

Early Patriot isn't that far removed from current Five, just burlier, so should be fine. I know a couple of guys who ride older Patriots as day-to-day bikes, with 140ish forks I think. Didn't appear to be "too much".

i ride a patriot 7+ round dalby and gisburn, just a bit slower on the climbs than my sub5 but more fun on the flat, rocky stuff and of course the decents.
i have 160mm fox 36 on the front.

the main issue is lifting the beast onto the roof rack.
chewed the missus' roof with the chain ring once when i dropped it. oops.

Used too see them ridden as xc bikes, at one point I would have bought one for that reason (pre alpine160). Sadly they didnt make em big enough for me.

Go for it

Absolutely love mine ๐Ÿ™‚

It's put up with a surprising amount of stick - raced MacAvalanche 2012, raced Fort William DH track, raced a couple of regional DH races.

(For DH duties, I pinch the brakes off my 222, and install a shorter stem and coil shock - 20mins job)

I know, I was looking for earlier ones but this 2008 one came up on eBay for decent money.

Yes, fresh powder. The frame looks pretty much brand new.....

I added the cable guides onto the swingarms (prior to re-paint), as I was tired of routing them through the frame...

Yes frame looks very tidy in your pics, did you get the cable guides done at Orange or somewhere else?

IMO MUCH nicer looking than a Five and worth doing for that reason alone.

Are those guides bolted on or welded?
Does anyone have any experience of fox rp2 shock? Can they be custom tuned.

For the RP2, Loco/Mojo could answer all your questions...

Earlier ones should be ok due to sharper angles
plus you did have the adjustable shock shuttle to
change the angles up front if needed so yeah go ahead
