Nearly time!

I'm starting to get excited now 🙂

Decided I'll not be on the belt-drive bike as my legs aren't up to SS up big hills. So I'll be on the ti Voodoo with a Rohloff, and spangly new Magura Thor forks.
Bedded in new brake pads yesterday in preparation. Just got some new tyres too for all that lovely wet slate.

I guess it'll not be as dry as last year, but it never will.

Can't wait!!!!

I'm going (my 4th Dyfi)!

But I've done the least amount of riding in advance of the event 'ever' and I'm slightly worried I won't make it round! Still, I'll be doing it on my recently built Five so looking forward to blasting down those slatey descents!

It's my 9th. I missed the 2nd and 3rd as I was in NZ.
Last year's was probably the best ever. I certainly enjoyed it

3rd for me. I'll be at the back somewhere dragging my orange alpine up the hills - descents are always worth it though.

Still haven't decided which tyres I'll be sliding around on yet though.

SS here and looking forward to a good moan about the whole affair again. Hopes there's a rusty green bike lying around for evening skills classes again. Hope the see saw of truth has been rebuilt and reinforced and hope I can find my other seal skin sock before I set off. Maybe two extra teeth on back this year instead of one 🙁

IIRC it was mentioned that this year things would be a bit "different"
Any thoughts what's happening?

3rd one for me this year. Missed it last year due to a herniated lumbar disc so will be good to ride it instead of just watching it from the bottom of the world cup descent like I did last year.

Seriously not fit enough though. Longest ride this year has been a piddling 30k so I'll be spinning a granny gear somewhere near the back.

I did have to have a little walk towards the end but you bastards made me do the extra loop. I won't be falling for that one again!

Can I ask that this year when I'm struggling on an uphill, convincing myself that I'm about to have a cardio you SSers you don't come past me pat my back, say 'keep at it' and then head off at warp speed as if you're heading up as if you're riding on the flat!

So who's giving the Trek Sawyer race a go on the Saturday?!

From the Facebook page:

We have a brand new Trek Sawyer 29'er to give away over the weekend. To be eligible to win it you will need to turn up and sign on on Saturday. Then once you have collected your number you can try your hand at a timed lap of the 'Sawyer loop' - racing head to head with another rider against the clock. Times will be recorded on a leader board, and we will take the fastest rider, as well as the 20th, 30th and 50th fastest, and take them through to a secret non-bike decider on Sunday afternoon to find a winner. The track will stay open until dusk on Saturday, so don't leave it too late.

I've done it more times on a ss than a geared bike so time for a change.
Well that and the fact i'm getting old and slow. 😥
Too old and slow to pedal 4"tyres without gears anyway.

About 60km, but some road to get into the forest. Then its non-stop up and down until the finish.
Sometimes they only let the first 100 people do the full course, everyone else skips a loops towards the end - I think.

My back end will sink.
Can't be bothered to camp this year so doing a day trip over and back. Swede just take your gears off, it'll save weight

My first Dyfi Enduro... Enjoyed the winter warm up so much thought I'd give the proper one a go... Unfortunately I've done very little training so it should be an unforgettable experience... 🙂
