So currently have NX 11 speed on my hardtail 29er. Sometimes the 42 tooth lowest cog on the cadette is a bit high. Already upgraded to an XT crankset with a 32t cadette on.

Gear change is getting a bit stiff, even after replacing cables and rear mech a bit sloppy, so thinking upgrade time. Want to keep the current wheels with a Shimano freehub. No option to replace it for microspline or SRAM.

So looking at the Microshift advent X. 11-48t ten speed and costs £180.

Then prices up an XT, deore, sunrace 12 speed with 11-51t for £194.

The latter is about 200g heavier on the casette and I did want to try Microshift a d not overly fussed about 12 Vs 10 speed, but am leaning towards the Shimano/sunrace combo.

Just looking for views/validation.

I've not used the Microshift set-up, but I find that with 10-speed, even with just an 11-46, you start getting awkward gaps between ratios, which I find slightly irksome. Have you considered just going for a 30-tooth chainring plus an 11-46 cassette to match?

I'm using a Sunrace MX derailleur and 46t cassette, with a 32t oval chain ring. Which all works very well. The oval chainring kind of feels like I'm still using a 30t.

As a side note, does anyone know if the Microshift derailleur works well with a Sram or Shimano 10 speed shifter? I'm buying a new frame and will need a new drivetrain setup to keep me running 2 bikes.

Hmmm Deore 11speed with an XT shifter looks like the sweet spot. Thanks docrobster.

Never used bikester before, tell me they're better at knowing stock levels than tredz 😁
