Just wondering about drivetrain wear.

People say that if your chain is knackered and needs replacing, you will most likely need to change your cassette and possibly chainring too.

So, on a 1x9 setup I currently use a steel chainring. If I swapped to an Alu chainring, which will probably wear more quickly, will I end up knackering my chain and cassette quicker too as a result?

The difference will probably be fairly minimal.

IIRC it tends to be a worn chain causing chainring wear. So unless you leave it all to wear out totally you should be OK
