are there any generic protectors out there that would fit a nukeproof scalp..?

Just put a strip of helicopter tape down the tube.. Works for me.

I have one of these to protect a carbon downtube:

Quite thick, rubbery, translucent long strip. Mine's been in situ for over a year and all good.

Or, get some [url= http://direct.hobbycraft.co.uk/products-HobbyCraft-Fab-Foam-45cm-by-30cm-Sheets_244991.htm ]craft foam[/url] for 79p and duct tape it to a clean downtube. Lasts months, doesn't damage the paint and the sheet's big enough for a couple of applications.
